Severe tropical storm Belal is heading away from Mauritius, after being located 210 km south-southeast of Blue Bay at 10:00, and moving at a speed of 18 km/h in an east-southeasterly direction. The local weather is being affected by the storm’s swirling clouds.

Over the next 24 hours, there will be predominantly cloudy conditions with occasional showers and moderate to heavy isolated thunderstorms.

Temperatures will range from 25 to 27 degrees Celsius across the central plateau, and 28 to 30 degrees Celsius along the coasts.

Skies will be partly cloudy tonight and tomorrow morning, with intermittent showers expected over higher areas.

Minimum temperatures will range from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius inland, and 24 to 26 degrees Celsius along the coast.

Westerly winds will blow at around 30 km/h, with gusts reaching 80 km/h. The sea will be rough, with swells up to 7 metres beyond the reefs, posing a risk of coastal flooding in low-lying areas.
