On 3rd Jan 2024, Air Mauritius Airbus A350, operating a flight to Plaisance, declared an emergency, prompting a return to Paris CDG. Air Mauritius flight MK17, a routine Paris CDG to Plaisance service, was conducted by the aircraft with registration 3B-NBP.

According to data from Planespotters.net, 3B-NBP is a 6.3-year-old Airbus A350-900, delivered to the carrier in October 2017.

The airline operates four A350-900 variants, all currently in active service, with an average fleet age of 5.2 years.

MK17 departed Paris CDG at 0205 local time and headed southeast to Plaisance. Upon entering Italian airspace, the aircraft made a u-turn back to Paris, squawking the 7700 general emergency code.

The aircraft landed at CDG without incident at 0541 local time.

The nature of the emergency is unclear at this stage.
