Drug-Smuggling Duo Caught With 1.04 Kg of Heroin Hidden in Wigs!

Two passengers, Shakirah Uthman Muyumba, 34, and Jane Akurut, 31, were apprehended at SSR International Airport on 31 December as they attempted to smuggle heroin worth around Rs1.5 million.

Muyumba, arriving on flight KQ 274 from Nairobi, was stopped in the green channel, but initial searches of her luggage proved fruitless.

A body search, however, uncovered a hidden package sewn into her wig, containing 520g of a powder confirmed to be heroin.

Following this incident, Akurut, arriving on flight KQ 270, was also subjected to a green channel check, leading to the discovery of a similar hidden package in her wig.

A heroin test and sniffer dog Rulah both confirmed the presence of drugs, resulting in the seizure of approximately 522g of heroin, worth an estimated Rs784,050.

Both passengers, along with their belongings and the seized evidence, were subsequently transferred to the Anti-Drug Smuggling Unit for further investigation.

A controlled delivery on the following day did not yield any additional evidence.
