The Confederation of Private and Public Sector Workers (CTSP), a prominent trade union in Mauritius, is launching public campaigns to expose “dishonest”companies that are planning to bypass collective agreements and reduce employees’ salaries.

Unionist Reeaz Chuttoo had criticised well-established companies for choosing this path instead of struggling small businesses.

He claimed these companies are using delaying tactics to avoid legal action, despite having the means to pay fair wages.

Chuttoo has urged employees to stand up against these companies and denounce their actions.

He also called for a review of starting wages in collective agreements and warns that reducing salaries regardless of years of service is unfair.

Chuttoo also insisted on the need for government intervention to protect employees’ rights and not undermine progress made in increasing the minimum wage through the actions of a few companies.
