Mauritius Diaspora Sends Back Lesser Cash to Homeland

The Bank of Mauritius has published its remittance statistics for the third quarter of 2023.

Inward workers’ remittances amounted to Rs747 million, mainly from France (23.4%), the USA (16.3%), and the United Kingdom (11.8%).

This is slightly lower than the Rs802 million recorded in the same period last year, representing a drop of almost 7%.

Outward workers’ remittances were estimated at Rs2.11billion, with India (37.7%) and Bangladesh (35.2%) being the top destination countries.

Outward workers’ remittances amounted to Rs2,154 million in 2022Q3.
