The 28th session of the COP28 conference is currently underway in Dubai, with a focus on accelerating climate actions.

Mauritius has expressed its expectations for the conference, calling on industrialised nations to fulfill their financing commitments to support developing countries in building resilience.

Additionally, there is a push for increased commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support in terms of capacity development and technology transfer.

The issue of “Loss and Damage” is a key concern, with Mauritius advocating for the establishment of a dedicated fund to assist countries affected by extreme weather events.

While initial implementation points have been discussed, the final decision rests with Convention members during the main COP28 meetings.
