Legal Challenge Filed against SIM Card Re-Registration

Lawyer Rama Valayden and citizen advocate Ivor Tan Yan have taken the issue of SIM card re-registration to the Supreme Court.

They argue that the collection and retention of personal data violates multiple articles of the Constitution and the Civil Code.

They also claim that the use of regulations instead of a formal law or constitutional amendment is unconstitutional.

Additionally, they cite a previous court ruling that deemed the indefinite retention of fingerprints in a central database as unconstitutional.

Lastly, they argue that the requirement to provide a colour photograph/selfie for SIM card registration violates several constitutional articles and the Civil Code.
