Yogita Babboo Rama, President of Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association (AMCCA), is seeking Rs 5,219,581.25 in damages from Air Mauritius, following her immediate termination on July 10. Rama, who worked at the airline for 27 years without prior disciplinary issues, claims her dismissal was “unjust and illegal”.

The dispute arose after Rama criticised perceived injustices and mismanagement within Air Mauritius during a radio interview in April 2023.

Despite initial communication indicating she need not provide written explanations, an internal investigation led to three charges against her.

Rama maintains the disciplinary process violated employment regulations. She was terminated without further explanation on July 10.
