Minister’s cousin named CEO

The Sugar Investment Trust (SIT) welcomed its new CEO, Yash Ramdharee, who officially took office this Friday, September 15. He succeeds Dineshrao Babajee.

Ramdharee was previously the director of the Mauritius Cane Industry Authority (MCIA). According to reports, he is also a cousin of former Minister of Agro-Industry, Maneesh Gobin. When questioned about this connection, Praveen Kumar Ramburn, Chairman of the SIT Board, clarified that he was not aware of this relationship. He claimed that an independent entity conducted the selection process.
