Opposition MP brandishes a ‘copy’ of the 2023/2024 Budget Speech

During a congress of the Labour Party in Plaine Verte on Wednesday, May 31, MP Eshan Juman brandished a document that he presented as the budget speech to be delivered by the government on Friday, June 2.

The Budget Speech is usually kept secret until it is read by the Minister of Finance.

He displayed the title “Oser et Proteger” (Dare and Protect) written on the first page of the document, which he showed to the audience while questioning the “theme.”

MP Juman wondered who the theme referred to: “They say dare and protect. Dare and protect who? Dare and protect Jagutpal? Leela Dookun? Husnoo? Maneesh Gobin? STC? (…)” 

According to him, the upcoming Budget will focus on several key areas, including the recruitment of approximately 1,000 police officers, promotions for 700 others, and the installation of sound meters in the Flic-en-Flac region, among other initiatives.
