National Day freebie: Pre-primary schooling to become free in 2024

In his message on the occasion of the 55th Independence of Mauritius celebrated on 12 March 2023, PM Pravind Jugnauth has praised the efforts of the Mauritian people who faced economic problems due to the war in Ukraine.

Jugnauth also announced that all pre-primary schools will be free from the start of the school year in 2024.

“We want pre-primary education to be free and we want to make sure that all children between the ages of three and five have the same opportunity to access a quality pre-primary school. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education are already working on the project,” Jugnauth announced.
