Light magnitude 4.6 earthquake reported northeast of Mauritius

An earthquake was reported off Mauritius and Rodrigues on Sunday morning, though it is unlikely you felt its full impact.

The 4.6 magnitude quake was recorded underwater about 1,000 km earthnortheast of Mauritius at approximately 5:44 a.m. (UTC) Sunday somewhere in the 10km deep waters of the Indian Ocean.

Even if you were at sea, you might not have felt the quake.  

Generally, earthquakes have to be magnitude seven before tsunami waves are generated.  

It was regional seismograph stations that picked up the quake. There are about 54 such stations in the region.
