Cellplus Mobile Communications granted Payment Service Provider license
Cellplus Mobile Communications is a subsidiary of Mauritius Telecom

Cellplus Mobile Communications Ltd has been granted a Payment Service Provider licence by the Bank of Mauritius.

The license, issued under the National Payment Systems Act 2018, allows Cellplus Mobile Communications to provide for:

  • Services enabling cash to be placed on a payment account, including all operations required for operating a payment account;
  • Execution of payment transactions, including transfers of funds on a payment account with the payment service provider of the user or with another payment service provider, including the execution of –
  1. direct debits and one-off direct debits;
  2. payment transactions through a payment card or a similar device;
  3. credit transfers and standing orders
  • Issue of payment instruments and/or acquiring of payment transactions; and
  • Payment initiation services

Launched in 1996, Cellplus, a fully owned subsidiary of Mauritius Telecom, is the market leader in Mauritius and in Rodrigues. It offers a range of voice, data and multimedia services for both the mass market and business segments.
