Covid-19: Here we go again, three die in 24 hours
After several weeks of drop in the number of active cases, three people have reportedly died in one day, triggering concerns among health professionals.
On Monday, local media cited the Ministry of Health as announcing the death of three patients at the ENT hospital in Vacoas over the last 24 hours.
The deaths have officially been attributed to Covid-19.
The victims were aged a 76-year-old and a 80-year-old man; and a 53-year-old woman.
The 80-year-old was fully vaccinated, but he suffered from several co-morbidities just like the 76-year-old.
The fifty-year-old woman was not vaccinated.
“The situation is still worrying,” said Dr Soobaraj Sok Appadu, National Covid-19 Coordinator and Director of ENT Hospital.
Speaking to Defi Media, Dr. Sok Appadu said there are eleven patients currently admitted at the ENT hospital and most of them are unvaccinated.
