Missing dogs ‘electrocuted on Metro Express line’, one killed
A Port Louis resident family who have been searching for their two lost dogs since Friday have been left heartbroken after they discovered one of them, a Labrador, was killed on the Metro Express railway track near Bell Village, Port Louis, after being electrocuted.
The other dog ‘miraculously’ survived, but was badly burnt.
The devastated owner, aged 30, was scandalised that the gate giving access to the railway tracks were left open.
“This should never have been able to happen. The gates should be secured, especially when there is a risk of electrocution,” he was quoted as telling Defi Media.
Other dog owners in the region admitted to being concerned about their animals and wished officials could get a grip on this problem.
