Motion of no-confidence against PM Pravind Jugnauth rejected

The motion of no-confidence of Opposition Leader Xavier-Luc Duval against the Government and PM Pravind Jugnauth has been rejected by the National Assembly.

“This came without great surprise since they (Government MPs) hold the majority of seats.” Media reported.

Duval reacted by saying that he does not consider this to be a waste of time and believes that the government and MPs are accountable to the people.

“We can’t have sheep as MPs,” he said.

He particularly criticised Jugnauth and Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal for lying on the real situation. He had earlier called to suspend useless projects and slash taxes on fuel.

Claims of “lying” also came from Labour’s Arvind Boolell. “The country is bankrupt. The country does not deserve the MSM,” he said.

Reacting to the attacks, Pravind Jugnauth  said the “reasons behind Duval’s motion was to push people to take to the streets. We have the population’s welfare at heart,” he said.
