On the day of his marriage, Jose Luiz is dumped by his girlfriend. As not to waste his honeymoon trip in Mauritius, his overprotective mother decides to join him on the trip.

During the trip, Jose Luiz ails from the recent heartbreak while his mother enjoys the trip of her life. This is the premise of the new Netflix film Honeymoon With My Mother.

Aside from the funny banter on Honeymoon With My Mother, this Spanish film gives viewers picturesque views and gorgeous backdrops of Mauritius to enjoy,.

On the other hand, critics have deplored how negatively Mauritius is portrayed – with suggestions of easy availability of drugs on the island.

This is yet another Netflix film with tropical theme filmed in Mauritius. The 2021 film Resort to Love, starring Christina Milian and Sinqua Walls, was also shot on the island.

The Cinemaholic shares: “The principal photography for the comedy film commenced in January 2020 but soon got halted due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Luckily, production was able to resume shooting Honeymoon With My Mother in August 2020, and they finished up in early 2021.

Honeymoon With My Mother is currently available to stream on Netflix.
