No More Demolitions: Ruisseau du Pouce Vendors Score a Win

Vendors were supposed to vacate the premises on Thursday, 29th February 2024. The announcement was made by the Lord Mayor on Friday afternoon, 1st March – Merchant structures will not be destroyed.

In a statement to Radio Plus, Issop Nujurally explains that after the notice served by the merchants to the Port Louis municipality and the Police Commissioner, the deadline has been extended.

Indeed, some merchants, through their lawyer Pazhany Rangasamy on the instructions of their attorney Nabiil Kaufid, served a notice to the municipality on Thursday.

They believe that the decision to relocate them to the Urban Terminal is “arbitrary”.

Mr. Nabil Kaufid is therefore asking the authorities to come up with proposals for his clients.
