Mauritius and India have signed an MoU to strengthen their collaboration in space exploration and research, specifically for the joint development of a micro satellite.

The Government of India will be responsible for designing, assembling, testing, launching, deploying, controlling, and operating the satellite for Mauritius.

The MRIC engineers will also receive free training at ISRO in India, where they will closely collaborate with ISRO engineers for the development of the satellite platform, associated systems, and primary payload.

Once completed, the satellite will be launched by ISRO, and its operation in orbit will be jointly carried out by MRIC and ISRO using the MRIC Ground Station.

The overall project is expected to last around 15 months and will be registered as a space object in the UNOOSA Space Object Registry.
