Man Attacks Wife and 4-Month-Old Daughter with a Cutter

In a distressing incident at Residence La Cure, Port-Louis, a 33-year-old man, Jonathan P., was arrested for violently assaulting his 26-year-old wife and their four-month-old daughter with a cutter.

According to reports, Abercrombie police swiftly responded to a distress call from the mother and found the father in an agitated state.

The wife, said to be visibly battered from the attack, said she shielded their infant throughout the ordeal.

The altercation apparently stemmed from a dispute over money and drug-related matters, with the wife alleging that the assailant sought Rs 2,000 to buy drugs.

The situation is said to have escalated when Jonathan allegedly learned that his wife had contacted the police, leading to a physical confrontation with officers.

He was eventually subdued, taken into custody, and subsequently presented before the Port-Louis court on a provisional indictment of domestic violence.

The wife and her baby were promptly transported to Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital for essential medical attention.
