Hemant Jangi, the former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) who had been serving at the Police Training School, is set to become the security advisor to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

He will replace Vinod Appadoo, the former Prisons Commissioner.

Jangi’s move reportedly comes after a controversial transfer from his previous position as head of the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID).

He has spent 45 years in the Mauritian Police.
