30-year-old woman killed after being hit by tram in Curepipe

A 30-year-old woman in Mauritius was reportedly killed after she was hit by a Metro Express tram near Curepipe, in the centre of the island.

The accident and death of the young woman were reportedly confirmed by Curepipe police.

According to Le Mauricien newspaper, the young woman apparently suddenly walked in front of a tram before being hit. She reportedly died on the spot.

Beatrice Bauda, Communication Officer of Metro Express Limited was cited as saying that the tram service had temporarily been suspended in Curepipe and was only operational between Phoenix to Port-Louis.
