The detection of a first case of monkeypox in Reunion Island has reportedly put local authorities on high alert.

The Ministry of Health has reportedly stepped up surveillance at Plaisance Airport and Port Louis.

It has also urged hotels to be prepared for implementing the isolation and communication protocols.
