COVID-19: Mauritius to jab kids aged 5-11 as from Monday

Mauritius will start jabbing children aged 5 to 11 against COVID-19 as from Monday May 23.

The vaccination campaign will be run in schools.

Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal said the children will be inoculated with Pfizer and a second dose is also planned.

The jab is not compulsory, but “strongly recommended.” Parental consent will be required.

Jagutpal said the decision sets up the stage to protect young children from the coronavirus disease.
