Producer price index for manufacturing sector rises by 12.9% in one year

The Producer Price Index for the manufacturing sector has registered an increase of 1.8 points or 1.4% from February 2022 to March 2022.

Statistics Mauritius has attributed the increase to higher prices of “Food products and beverages”, “Wood and wood products/Articles of straw and plaiting materials/ Paper and paper products”, “Printing and reproduction of recorded media”, “Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers” and, “Rubber and plastic products”.

Compared to March 2021, the PPI-M for March 2022 was higher by 15.3 points or 12.9%.
