Mauritius runs Freeport and Logistics Week at Dubai Expo

The Mauritius-UAE economic ties are on a solid growth track and marching ahead. And Mauritius is open to the UAE investors to invest in the tourism and property sector due to higher returns.

Such was the messages of Soodesh Callichurn, Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development, Training and Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection in an interview with Gulf Today.

Minister Callichurn is currently in Dubai for the Mauritius Freeport and Logistics week, organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB).

The event will run until Friday, in collaboration with the Mauritius Port Authority (MPA), the Cargo Handling Corporation Ltd (CHCL), the Airport of Mauritius (AML), the State Trading Corporation (STC), Freeport Developers and the Freeport Operators Association.

The Mauritian delegation also comprises  Showkutally Soodhun, Mauritian Ambassador to the UAE, the Chairman of the EDB, Hemraj Ramnial, and the Chairman of the Mauritius Ports Authority, Sanjeev Ghurburrun.

The minister asserted that trade agreements with India, the Mauritius China FTA, the EPA with the European Union and the AGOA with the USA allow for preferential access to around 70% of the world market through the Mauritius Freeport.
