Mauritius cement suppliers slap 10% price rise

The two main cement suppliers in Mauritius are implementing a further rise in retail prices as the construction industry on the island struggles to gather pace.

According to Defi Media, the 10% represent an increase between Rs14 and Rs16, depending on brands.

The two main suppliers of cement in Mauritius are Kolos Cement Ltd and Lafarge (Mauritius) – (which markets the Baobab brand).

Defi Media said Lafarge’s new prices are effective since January 6 while Kolos will implement new tariffs as from January 22.

The price of a Baobab CEM 1 pouch will then increase from Rs 160.10 to Rs 176.11.
