Air Mauritius appoints ex-MCCI boss as new Chairman
The Board of Directors of Air Mauritius has appointed Mr Marday Venketasamy as its new Chairman.
The appointment comes only weeks after the Watershed meeting which culminated with an injection of Rs12million as a Government loan and the appointment of Ken Arian (ex-Senior Adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office) as Chairman of Airport Holdings.
Venketasamy, the Managing Partner of Filao Group of Companies, has been engaged for 45 years in the manufacturing of luxury leather products for top brands of the watch and jewellery sector.
He was President of the Union of Indian Ocean Chambers of Commerce and Industries.
He was President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1996, 2005, 2010 and 2018/2020, President of the Mauritius Exports Processing Zone Association (MEPZA) from 1992 to 1994 and Chairman of the Mauritius Exports Development and Investment Authority (MEDIA) from 1996 to 1999.
He has been the past International Vice President of JCI International. He is a Grand Officer of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GOSK) and a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur of the republic of France.
Since 2010, he is the Honorary Consulate of the United Republic of Tanzania in Mauritius.
