Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Rajend Jeetun has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court accusing police officers of the controversial Special Striking Team (SST) of stealing his whisky and Rs 3.8 million during a search at his home.

Along with his wife and son, he is seeking damages of Rs 10 million and the return of the stolen money.

Dr Jeetun claims that the police officers took the money despite his explanation of its source.

He also alleges that they took Rs 30,000 from his consultation room and seven bottles of whisky.

He has footage from surveillance cameras as evidence and has reported the matter to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

The case is scheduled to be heard in February 2024.
