The National Transport Company, NTC, is waiting for the Ministry of Land Transport and Light Rail to disburse Rs 400 million for the electrification of its depots.

If not released by the end of 2023, the delay may postpone the operation of 360 electric buses until 2025. Once completed, tests will be conducted on the bus lines, with the old Ashok Leyland/TATA running on the new fleet of buses.

Approximately 100 of the 360 buses will be gifted by the Indian government, 100 will be purchased through a line of credit, and Mauritian government will acquire 160 buses through another credit facility in batches.
