Dev Virahsawmy passes away at 81

Dev Virahsawmy, former politician, linguist, writer, and advocate for the liberalization of cannabis oil, has passed away at the age of 81.
He was the first elected member of the MMM and had a rich and storied life. He spent his childhood in Goodlands, completed his studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and served as a politician.
His most recent interview, “Dev Virahsawmy: a well-lived life,” was conducted by Judgish Joypaul and focused on his life and career.
After leaving politics, he focused on writing plays and was married to Loga Virahsawmy, the President of Gender and Media Southern Africa.
He was also known for being a defender of Morisyen and for his translations of English and French texts into Morisyen.
