A man has been arrested in Mauritius for allegedly withdrawing over Rs 472,000 from ATMs by hacking into a bank’s security system.

The suspect, Preetam Horil, was caught withdrawing money by the police, who had been alerted by the bank about suspicious withdrawals late at night.

The investigation has uncovered the possibility of inside involvement leading to such a theft.

The suspect has claimed that he learned the hack from overhearing a conversation and had merely memorised the steps.

The bank, whose identity has not been disclosed, reassured customers that they have not been impacted by the theft and are cooperating fully with the investigation.
