Nearly 1,900 Companies Not Compliant with Fire Certificates Requirements

Some 1,893 companies in Mauritius without a Fire Certificate were informed to improve their premises.

The information was revealed during a parliamentary question session on October 24.

The Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) established a database at the beginning of 2023 to enforce compliance, issuing improvement notices as necessary.

Fire certificates are issued in accordance with Clause 19 of the 2013 MFRS Act, and requests for Fire Certificates are now made on the National Electronic Licensing System.

MFRS also conducts regular inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety measures.
