Mauritius Among Top 10 African Countries with Booming Financial Markets

The Absa Africa Financial Markets Index has ranked the top 10 African countries with the most promising financial markets.

According to the report, African financial markets are becoming increasingly attractive for investors looking beyond traditional markets, and Mauritius is listed as one of the top 10 countries.

The report takes into consideration over 40 indicators across six pillars, including market depth, access to foreign exchange, market transparency, tax and regulatory environment, capacity of local investors, macroeconomic environment and transparency, and legal standards and enforceability.

Mauritius has an overall index score of 77, with favorable market transparency, tax and regulatory environment, and legal standards and enforceability.  

The financial markets play a crucial role in generating economic growth and financial inclusion, and the goal of the report is to highlight how economies can reduce barriers to investment and promote sustainable growth.
