Life Expectancy in Mauritius Ranks 5th in Africa, UN Reports Show

In terms of life expectancy in Africa, Mauritius stands at fifth place according to the global demographic outlook from the United Nations.
It also reveals that life expectancy has increased by an average of 10 years per decade over the past two decades in Africa.
This substantial rise over the period indicates an improvement in healthcare services and a growing emphasis on personal health.
Factors like heredity and Gross Domestic Product play a crucial role.
According to the UN study, Algeria leads in life expectancy in Africa, where newborns are expected to live an average of 77 years.
Following are Cape Verde (76 years) and Tunisia (76 years). Morocco, Mauritius, and the Seychelles tie with a life expectancy of 75 years.
The country with the highest life expectancy worldwide is also one of the wealthiest, namely Monaco, with an expectancy of 87.01 years.
In second place is Hong Kong (85.83 years), followed by Japan (84.95 years), Liechtenstein (84.77 years), and Switzerland (84.38 years).
