In 2022, Mauritius welcomed a total of 997,290 tourists.

The majority were Europeans, constituting 674,511 arrivals, followed by 207,010 Africans and 90,960 Asians.

French tourists were particularly prominent, totalling 238,864. Visitors from the Middle East (36,033), Oceania (7,794), and the Americas (16,530) also contributed to this record turnout.

From January to September 2023, Mauritius continued its appeal by hosting 901,126 visitors.

French tourists remained significant, with 211,069 arrivals, highlighting the destination’s popularity among European travellers.

European tourists represented a major factor in Mauritius’ tourism growth, with 568,863 arrivals, indicating sustained demand despite global challenges.

The island also attracted 203,660 African visitors, 97,791 Asian tourists, and 32,451 travellers from the Middle East. 

Mauritius also welcomed tourists from Oceania (14,347) and the Americas (16,087).
