High Tourist Season Drives Airfare Prices Up in Mauritius

As the year-end approaches, ushering in the high tourist season, there’s a significant increase in the number of travellers between Mauritius and various destinations.

This surge in demand has led to a notable rise in airfare prices. Travel experts advise booking flights well in advance, with a lead time of three to six months, to secure the best rates.

The trend of increasing prices during this season is not exclusive to Mauritius, and it’s considered normal due to the heightened demand for travel.

The period from November to January is traditionally known as the high season in the Southern Hemisphere, resulting in a substantial influx of tourists.

While price fluctuations can occur at other times of the year, the end of the year typically witnesses a notable increase in fares due to the holiday season.

Travellers are encouraged to plan ahead to save on travel costs. Reservations for 2024 are already in progress, indicating a promising recovery for the travel industry, with an expected capacity of 80% to 85% by year-end. It’s crucial to book early, especially for popular year-end destinations, as waiting may lead to higher fares.
