29-Year-Old Son of Opposition MP Assaulted with Knife

The son of opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Farhad Aumeer (Labour), was reportedly assaulted with a knife on Wednesday in Saint-Jean, Quatre-Bornes.

The 29-year-old law student reported to the police that he was driving his father’s BMW on St-Jean Road, heading towards Victoria Avenue.

At a certain point, a black motorcycle coming from the opposite direction crossed his path, even though he had the right of way.

To avoid a collision, he had to brake abruptly. The motorcycle stopped, and the pillion passenger approached him, striking him with a knife.

The victim fought back, and the assailants fled.

The student, unsure if the attack was politically motivated, sought medical attention and provided the motorcycle’s license plate number to the police.

Investigations reportedly revealed two motorcycles with the same license plate, indicating a counterfeit.

Further information disclosed previous incidents involving this black motorcycle, including theft and reckless behaviour.
