NEF CEO’s Contract Not Renewed, Ousted 1 Year After Appointment

Alain Aliphon, CEO of the National Empowerment Foundation (NEF), will leave his position early October as his contract has reportedly not been renewed.

The decision was taken during a special meeting of the NEF’s board of directors. Aliphon, a former MP, confirmed receiving his non-renewal letter only a year after his appointment and expressed gratitude for his time at NEF.

However, the decision has caused concern among NEF employees, who plan to send a letter to the Prime Minister’s office to seek clarifications.

A potential replacement for Aliphon is reportedly being considered.

Alain Aliphon, the former Member of Parliament for Constituency No. 20 (Beau-Bassin/Petite-Rivière), served as the Parliamentary Private Secretary from 2014 to 2019.

However, he did not receive endorsement to contest the general elections in 2019.

Additionally, he ran as a candidate in the local village elections of November 2020 for the Albion region, but faced defeat.
