Mauritius Activist Threatens to Take Anti-Graft Agency to Court
Political activist Bruneau Laurette has hit hard at the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) for its inaction regarding documents he submitted concerning the MSM ruling party’s election expenses in constituency No. 8, the Prime Minister’s constituency.
During a press conference, Laurette, a member of One Moris, levelled allegations against PM Pravind Jugnauth for money laundering.
He raised questions as to why the ICAC has not yet acted despite the complaints he lodged.
Laurette issued a deadline to ICAC and plans to approach the Supreme Court, giving ICAC until Monday evening to respond.
He highlighted that around Rs 2 million were spent on the recent campaign in constituency No. 8. Laurette said he will reveal more information next Tuesday and assured that he has safeguarded the documents until their public release.
