Customs Seize 3 Replica Grenades at Airport Found in Cargo Parcels
Customs officials at Mauritius’ cargo centre have intercepted three plastic replica hand grenades and tactical components shipped from the e-commerce platform AliExpress.
The seizure, which occurred at the Plaine-Magnien freight facility between 20 March and 7 April 2026, involved items strictly prohibited under the Firearms Act.
Discovery and Seizure
The suspicious packages were flagged by an officer of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) during a routine inspection. The parcels were addressed to a resident of Port-Louis.
Upon physical verification, officials discovered:
- One “M18 smoke” replica grenade.
- Two “M67” model replicas.
- “Eshooter” brand tactical components and electronic parts designed for simulation equipment.
Legal Proceedings
The MRA confirmed that the importation of such items is a direct violation of national firearm regulations.
A formal statement was logged with the police on Wednesday, 29 April. All seized items have been placed under seal as exhibits for the ongoing investigation.
