Tragic Abercrombie Collision Leaves Dad, 58, Dead and 12-year-old Schoolgirl Hospitalised

A 37-year-old driver is facing charges of involuntary homicide following a fatal road traffic collision in Abercrombie on Tuesday, 19 May, that left a motorcyclist dead and his young daughter hospitalised.

The victim, 58-year-old Pradeep Cheekoory, was killed when a German saloon car veered off the road and violently struck him and his child.

The incident occurred just after Mr Cheekoory, a father from Sainte-Croix, had picked up his 12-year-old daughter from school.

The pair had pulled over and stopped in front of a shop when the out-of-control vehicle collided with them.

While Mr Cheekoory sustained fatal injuries, his daughter survived the impact. She has been hospitalised and remains under medical observation.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s brother, Sanjay Cheekoory, expressed their profound grief, stating that the family has been left completely devastated by the tragedy.
