New Deputy Prime Minister Appointed for the Republic
In a major cabinet reshuffle, the presidency announced on Monday, 4 May, that Arianne Navarre-Marie has been officially appointed as the new Deputy Prime Minister.
The appointment was formalised by President Dharam Gokhool on Monday, 4 May 2026, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam.
According to a communiqué released by the presidency on Monday evening, the change in leadership takes effect immediately.
Mrs Navarre-Marie, who currently holds the portfolio of Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, steps into the role following the formal recommendation from the Prime Minister’s office.
