The news has shaken the Mauritian political landscape as Xavier-Luc Duval, the leader of the opposition PMSD party, took to his Facebook page to announce the appointment of ex-MSM stalwart Siven Selloyee.

“The PMSD is delighted to welcome Siven Selloyee following his desire to join us. With vast experience in politics, as well as a background in management and human resources, Siven Selloyee’s expertise will undoubtedly be a significant asset, particularly in this critical juncture where Mauritius is grappling with major challenges in talent and skills management,” Duval penned.

Prior to joining the PMSD, Selloyee, a senior executive at Mauritius Telecom, was a member of the regional committee of the rule MSM party in constituency no.13 (Rivière-des-Anguilles-Souillac).

However, he resigned from his former party in January, prompting them to issue a statement wishing him success in his political endeavours.

In a press conference following his departure, Selloyee expressed concerns over the country’s trajectory, citing widespread frustrations among the population. He also asserted that his capabilities went unrecognised within his previous political affiliation.

This unexpected turn of events has stirred speculation and debate within the political circles of Mauritius
