Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans by infected mosquito bites (Aedes/Tiger mosquitoes).
Symptoms include high fever, headaches, body aches, nausea, and skin rashes. Individuals experiencing these symptoms are advised to visit the nearest health center.
To protect against Dengue, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, the Ministry advises the public to take the following precautions:
- Wear long clothing covering arms and legs.
- Use mosquito nets.
- Use mosquito repellent products (cream, lotion, spray, coils, electric diffusers).
- Remove stagnant water on house rooftops.
- Ensure that water pipes and gutters are not blocked.
- Properly cover water reservoirs to prevent mosquitoes from accessing them.
- Remove any objects that may collect water in the outdoor environment (used tires, tin cans, household waste).
- Change the water in flower vases at least once a week.
- Regularly clear and clean unoccupied land.
- Ensure there is no water retention in plates under flower pots.
- Regularly remove dead leaves from your yard.
