The Mauruss Association, which celebrates the relationship between Mauritius and Russia, recently marked its 25th anniversary.

The association was founded by Mauritian students who had studied in Russia and aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between the two nations.

A ceremony was held in Curepipe with the Russian Ambassador to Mauritius and government officials in attendance.

The association’s president, Dr. Ranjit Radhay, reflected on the assistance provided by the USSR (now Russia) in the past and highlighted the continued growth of relations between the two countries.

The recent introduction of direct flights from Mauritius to Moscow was also mentioned as a development that will facilitate travel and deepen connections, particularly for Mauritian students.

The event also included the launch of a magazine showcasing the association’s achievements and a cultural show featuring Indian and Russian performances.

The Russian Ambassador praised the association’s president for his dedication and noted the long-standing diplomatic relations between Russia and Mauritius, using the “Fly Me into Space” event as an example of successful collaboration between the two countries.
