The Mauritian authorities have refused to comment on the recent agreement made between Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) and the country.

Although TCIL revealed that the agreement involves three base stations on an island with an approximate population of 25,000, it is presumed to be on Rodrigues, as its population of 45,000 aligns more closely with the project scale.

The initiative reflects India’s ambition to become a significant exporter of telecommunications equipment, but manufacturing costs and pricing issues could be a challenge.

India seeks to position itself as a key manufacturing destination for telecommunications equipment makers.

Geopolitical and regulatory factors, such as national security concerns and presumed intentions, can have a significant impact on the global presence of telecommunications equipment manufacturers.
