Massive Fraud: Rs 4 Million Illegally Withdrawn from MCB ATMs in a Night

In a single night, around Rs 4 million were illegally withdrawn from MCB ATMs.

A suspect, Preetam Horil, was apprehended by the police, sparking suspicion of a larger network involved.

The case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division due to potential internal complicity.

So far, around fifteen fraudulent transactions have been identified, totalling approximately Rs 4 million in withdrawals.

One suspect has been arrested, but it appears to be just a cog in a larger network. In one night, Preetam Horil, had allegedly withdrawn Rs 472,000 from an ATM in Quatre-Bornes.

He was spotted by a police patrol and apprehended.

According to Defi Media, the incident has brought attention to security vulnerabilities within the MCB.

Preetam Horil reportedly claimed to have conducted contactless withdrawals using inserted codes.

Internal involvement is a concern since acquiring a code from the Cardless withdrawal system is necessary for such transactions.

The bank assures its customers that none have been impacted and is fully cooperating with the police.
