Police are searching for two suspects who posed as officers in an attempt to extort a 32-year-old businessman.

The victim received a call from a supposed officer requesting him to meet them at Central Barracks with his lawyer, or pay Rs 100,000 as legal fees.

The victim was told that if they paid Rs 75,000 or Rs 50,000, they would resolve the situation and not mention his name in the case.

The businessman reported the matter to the police, explaining that he had never been involved in any offence.

The suspects are currently being sought, and an investigation has been launched.
