Fuel Station Challenges SBM's Guarantee in Dispute with Indian Oil

The manager of a fuel station, previously in contract with Indian Oil Mauritius Ltd, is contesting a Rs 1.5 million bank guarantee provided by the State Bank of Mauritius (SBM) to cover potential losses.

The dispute stems from damages incurred after the station ceased operations.

The manager seeks an injunction to prevent SBM from proceeding with property seizure and demands the bank to refund the sum unlawfully disbursed to Indian Oil.

SBM argues it acted in compliance with banking standards, while the manager alleges the bank breached its contractual obligations.

The court granted the motion to amend the complaint, allowing further proceedings.
